When you join the Men's Kitchen as either a member learning, or as an Instructor showing members kitchen skills, you will need to understand how to conduct yourself in a busy kitchen and how to use a sharp knife safely. Then as an instructor you will need to learn how to run a Men's Kitchen cooking session. This Orientation section sets out to show you firstly the safety aspects and later we will add various additional components to show Instructors how to run cooking sessions effectively.
This video demonstrates several key safety points when working in a kitchen with quite a few other people. It is critical that both Instructors and members understand the key points in the video and practice them when cooking in a Men's Kitchen.

The most common action all cooks undertake is to cut big produce items into smaller bits. This involves the use of a very sharp knife and because of the frequency of this action it is typically the greatest source of injuries in the kitchen. This video shows both members and instructors the best way to use a sharp knife safely.
