The Men’s Kitchen is delighted to announce that the launch of our new Canada Bay District will be proudly sponsored by IGA Breakfast Point.
IGA Breakfast Point owner Phil Whitehead has a well-earned reputation for being supportive of local community initiatives and is a strong believer in giving back to the communities in which his stores operate.
Phil is certainly no stranger to the Men’s Kitchen. Through his IGA Allambie Heights store, he has provided substantial support to the Men’s Kitchen in the Northern Beaches, helping us with a range of activities and events over the years.
We are particularly grateful that Phil has now chosen to extend that support to our new Canada Bay District, which will launch at the Concord Senior Citizens Centre in late October 2026.
Community support such as this makes a real difference to a volunteer organisation like ours. It helps us establish new kitchens, bring older men together, teach practical cooking skills and, perhaps most importantly, create opportunities for men to make new friends and enjoy the company of others.
We thank Phil and the team at IGA Breakfast Point for getting behind the Men’s Kitchen and helping us bring Old Dogs. New Tricks. Great Mates. to the Canada Bay community.
We’re excited to announce that the Men’s Kitchen Association Board has approved the launch of a new Men’s Kitchen District in the Canada Bay area of Sydney!
📍 Venue: Concord Senior Citizens Centre
📅 Launch: Late October 2026
And now we need some great people to help us get this new kitchen off the ground!
We’re looking for volunteers to take on the roles of:
District Treasurer
District Administration
Six experienced cooks to teach our members the joys of cooking, sharing and having a laugh along the way.
And, of course, once we get started, we’re looking for around 20 older blokes from the local community who would like to join us, learn some new skills, enjoy good food and make some great mates.
If you live in or around the Canada Bay area and think this sounds like something you’d enjoy—whether as a volunteer, a cook or a member—we’d love to hear from you!
More details about registration and the launch will be coming soon.
The venue has been selected and looks very suitable for us to cook up a storm. We plan to move into the Concord Senior Citizens Centre and start our cooking program in October. Are you up for it?
